Oreo Buttercream Frosting

This is the first time I've made frosting, and I think I did pretty well. This recipe was simple and easy and oh so delicious.Yummy frosting! Great texture and I really like the flavor. This is a riff on a buttercream I make pretty frequently and the milk really helps the texture.

This is a simple, Oreo Buttercream frosting that comes together in a flash - which is a good thing when you have a grandchild that's in a hurry to frost fresh-made cupcakes! Just made this today for an after-school treat in blue - we love our frosting in a different color every time we make it. I use salted butter - the salty and sweet go together really well.

Definitely recommend, this frosting is delicious! So easy and so much better than frosting from a can!Not a big fan of buttercream, but this one is nice and smooth and not too sweet. Perfect ratio of all ingredients, excellent taste and consistency for spreading.
I made this recipe and it was fantastic! The family loved it! you can just added an extra half teaspoon of vanilla, A great base frosting, that can be adapted easily to other flavors. I've made this recipe twice and both times it disappeared before I could take a pic only, it's great consistency but i like the one i usually use better, for taste. I will definitely keep this recipe though.
Oreo Buttercream Frosting

INGREDIENTS
  • 10 Oreo Cookies
  • 1 cup salted butter, room temperature
  • 3 cups powdered sugar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla
  • 2 Tablespoons heavy cream
INSTRUCTIONS
  • In a food processor or blender, pulverize Oreo's into a powder. Set aside.
  • Mix butter together with powdered sugar 1/2 cup at a time, until all blended.
  • Add vanilla and heavy cream and mix well.
  • Add crushed Oreo's and blend well.
  • Spread onto cake or pipe onto cupcakes.

Notes
If piping this onto cupcakes, use a LARGE open tip as hunks of the Oreo Powder will get clogged in smaller piping tips.
